Jade Kai is a writer and educator studying what it means to be ‘human’ from a queer & trans of color lens. Jade is a PhD Candidate of Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at Stony Brook University. They hold a Bachelors degree in Psychology and Women’s and Gender Studies from Syracuse University. Jade is of mixed African American and European ancestry and was born and raised in New York City.
Jade (they/he) aims to dismantle barriers to equity & access in higher education and community advocacy through art, writing, and teaching. They research issues of gender identity, body politics, and care work - unifying theories of nonconforming embodiment and ethical philosophies of care between humans, animals, and the environment.
